Waste Management

Problem Statements

Waste management

Suggest a solution to help municipal bodies maximize solid waste collection with their given resources.

To develop new ways of Waste water management system in rural areas

Wastewater treatment is interconnected with the water chain, and thus affects the environment. Water used by rural homes gets converted to sewage or gets contaminated chemicals and other pollutants. It must be treated before it is released back to the environment. While nature is able to process and cope with a small amount of wastewater, imagine the huge volume produced every day before being released back to the environment. Health and environment are two major reasons to have an urgent focus in this soft-neglected area: health. A contaminated water chain can have disastrous effects on human health, agriculture, marine life, wildlife, and our food chain, to name a few.The aim is to identify and innovate a process of managing and treating waste water in the rural areas and to be able to reduce the wastage and improve the reusability of the water by treating it.

Rapid decomposition of waste in rural areas

Develop innovative solution for Rapid decomposition of waste and build system for creating usable components from the decomposed material

Reuse of used flowers

Organic matter from rotting flowers contributes to the growth of algae, which can deplete oxygen levels and cause marine life to die. About two million tonnes of floral waste in India are discarded after religious ceremonies. The flowers can prove difficult to dispose of in a normal way, especially those from the temples.

Waste Minimization Process

We often throw away valuable metals, glass, paper, etc. without realizing that all these materials can be reused instead of filling landfills. waste minimization is a set of processes and practices intended to reduce the amount of waste produced.

Green wastes management

Majority of food and yard waste buried in landfills decomposes and releases methane, a green house gas that’s 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide. home wastes consists majorly of organic waste. otherwise known as green wastes, that are rubbish that come in the form of biotic materials.
